2024The Challenge:
ČEZ required a safety-critical cooling control system for the Temelín Nuclear Power Plant's backup cooling infrastructure. The challenge was multi-faceted: Extreme reliability requirements: The system must operate flawlessly for 40+ years with 99.99% uptime. Nuclear Safety Grade 3 compliance: All components must meet stringent 10CFR50 Appendix B quality standards. Redundant fail-safe architecture: Triple-redundant control logic with automatic switchover in case of component failure. Harsh environmental conditions: Equipment must operate in high radiation zones (-20°C to +60°C ambient temperature). Real-time response: Control system must react within 100ms to prevent thermal excursions. Seismic qualification: All hardware must withstand Zone 4 seismic events per IEEE 344 standards
